Bees Buzz: What’s in a name?

8 May 2023

Whether it’s face-to-face in a London bar, a Zoom call with Tulsa, Oklahoma or a walk along the Suffolk coastline, one question we always get asked by our clients and connections is: “So, where does Bees Buzz come from? I love the branding!”

Some have assumed it’s purely for the colours – black and yellow is the colour combination that naturally attracts the eye more than any other. Others have guessed it’s the organic element that drove the decision.

Well, six successful years on and it can be said that the above reasoning has an element of truth, but the real reason is much closer to home, as our MD Stuart Hillis explains: “In a word, it’s family, or to be more specific, my two beautiful daughters and my amazing wife, Emma.”

Stuart continues:

“Bees are known to work tirelessly and together as a team for the greater good, so the acronym was the perfect fit for the company ethos. Plus, of course, we get plenty of excellent free branding from nature from May to September!”

Creating a media buzz

Founder Stuart started Bees Buzz in the Spring of Summer 2015 – when launched it was, to the best of our knowledge, the only dedicated Pro AV PR agency in the world. We continue to be exclusively AV, despite some left-field PR requests along the way!

Now operating for household names and established industry heavyweights across the globe, our unparalleled team of content creators and industry network reaches the heart of the pro AV audience – raising brand awareness, enhancing reputation and, of course, driving business.

“In this industry, there are very rarely unique offerings,” Stuart adds. “In all vertical markets, competition is everywhere, and it is our job to ensure that our clients’ products and/or services stand out among the crowd and are front of mind for relevant conversations. Our relationships with the media, coverage trackers and client’s growth – even amid the challenges inflicted by the pandemic – suggest we know what we’re doing and that we’re very good at it!”
